Annual Report 2024-2025 - Flipbook - Page 10
• We removed invasive plant growth all around the entire
property.
• We removed three large trees and stumps from the Urban
Courtyard. These trees, planted in the late 70s had grown too
tall for the space and were causing erosion in the landscaping
and damage to our roof and gutter system.
• Our longest term employee, Roberto Sanchez, decided it was
time to retire (or at least go part-time). Roberto has been our
sole grounds keeper over the past 20+ years. His departure
meant that we need to find someone to do the lawn care,
including continued clean-up and some sprucing up of the
property to improve appearance. We have an agreement
with Signature Lawn & Landscape, a company who will do
our routine lawn mowing/trimming as well as eco-friendly
lawn care/treatments.
• We had a long list of delayed indoor and outdoor electrical
repairs that were done so our outdoor lights are shining
bright again!
• We replaced the HVAC unit in the Narthex.
• We purchased 21 new round tables for Waveland Hall.
• We purchased a new modular scaffolding system that will
allow the custodial team to safely access higher spaces in the
Sanctuary and throughout the building.
• We removed the stove in Waveland Kitchen because the
oven stopped working and it was leaking gas.
• We installed an additional name wall in the Memorial
Garden which matches the existing structure. This was
funded by undesignated memorial funds and from the Carla
Offenburger and Gene Bryant Memorials.
• The Building & Grounds Committee was instrumental in
bringing attention to an ongoing roof leak in the Burling
Room and has gotten approval to move forward with a full
roof replacement of the flat roof over Burling and Greenwood
Rooms. We anticipate work to begin soon.
• Under the leadership of Jay Eaton, the Chi Rho cross at the
front of the Sanctuary was reproduced and was featured in the
Winter, 2024 edition of the Plymouth Magazine.
Other Significant Accomplishments::
• Georgia and Rick Sheriff volunteered many hours to clean up
several rooms below the narthex which included getting rid
of several cans of old paint and solvents.
• Gym bathrooms (behind the stage). These bathrooms had
been shut down for several years and needed to be reopened.
Before we could open them, we had to do the following:
− Cleaned out the sewer pipes that go under the stage
and out into the hallway outside the gym. We dug up
the cement at the bottom of the lower ramp stairs and
installed a cleanout so we could hydrojet the pipes now
and in the future.
− Cleaned out old lockers that were in the gym.
− Installed electronic hand dryers.
− Replaced the door locks so they could not be locked from
the inside.
− Capped off the showers.
− Deep cleaned both bathrooms.
− Installed Ring cameras (with light sensors) in the hallway
outside the bathrooms for added accessibility and safety.
