Action in Contemplation
What can we do to live our faith in the community? To care for others, as
Jesus calls us to do? How can we build organized power in our community
to implement justice for all?
All are welcome to join with AMOS and, with listening love, to build
organized power and bring justice to our community. All are welcome to
listen and learn from our neighbors, and alongside each other, join hands to
end oppression and bring justice for all.

Inspiration
Hospitality means primarily the creation of free space where the stranger
can enter and become a friend instead of an enemy. Hospitality is not to
change people, but to offer them space where change can take place. It is
not to bring men and women over to your side, but to offer freedom not
disturbed by dividing lines. – Henri Nouwen
Reflection
Some of the most touching hospitality I have ever received came to me through
a stranger, a person living in the United States as a refugee, or a member of our
sister church in Havana, Cuba, who lives in increasing poverty and isolation
from the rest of the world. How do I respond to this gracious hospitality? These
strangers request my solidarity. I must listen to their stories and value what they
have to say. However, I must also respond to their stories to form a mutually
fruitful common life in which each of us becomes responsible for the other.
Action in Contemplation
Who are the strangers in our midst? Let us open our eyes to see them, our
hearts to welcome them, and our ears to truly listen to their stories.
