Devotion 3
Inspiration
I am the light of the world. – John 8:12
You are the light of the world. – Matthew 5:14
Reflection
We all have light in us. As Christians, we call this light God, or our soul,
or spirit. This light connects us with an invisible thread. This light shines
while giving us hope, love, and joy. It is interesting that Jesus said that both
he is light and that we are light. Maybe we should be looking for light in
ourselves and in others and, in so doing, we will ‘find’ Jesus?
Action in Contemplation
I recently learned a 10-finger gratitude practice that could be done to look
for light in our world. With one of your hands, name 5 BIG things that
bring you light. For example, the sun, moon, and stars or the good work
of your favorite nonprofit organization. On the other hand, name 5 little
things in your world that are a bit harder to identify. Two of mine would
include the twinkle in my granddaughter's eye and a flashlight in the
woods. Try this and see how it makes you feel and contemplate your light
and Jesus’s light in our world.
