We say this at the beginning of every worship service
and we mean it. We are committed to being a community
of many different perspectives united around a common
purpose: growing in love of God, neighbor, and creation.
We believe that the love of God extends to every person,
regardless of race, gender, age, creed, class, orientation, or
identity. When we set the table, everyone has a place. All
are welcome here.
For nearly 100 years, Plymouth Church has stood as a
beacon of faith, hope, and radical welcome at the corner
of 42nd and Ingersoll in Des Moines. Through times of
national depression, world wars, technological and digital
revolutions, Plymouth has been an enduring and inspiring
congregation in our community.
Today, the congregation at Plymouth stands at a critical
juncture that demands attention to our internal structures
— from the roof over our heads to our kitchen and historic
organ. We want to ensure Plymouth can continue to be a
bold, vibrant, and intergenerational community for the next
100 years.
