Let Us Raise Our Voices
By Alden Hebard to the tune of ST Gertrude, submitted by Arthur Neis,
written March 10, 2026
Let us raise our voices in a song of praise
Unto God who hears and loves us all out days.
God is kind and merciful with abundant grace,
Meeting us each day we live as seeming face to face.
Let us raise our voices in a song of praise until God who hears
and love us all our days.
Though our lives face conflict out there or within,
And we are not strangers to a time of sin,
Still, we lift our spirits up and sing with one accord
Thankful for th pardon that we have received from God.
Let us raise our voice in a song of praise unto God who hears
and loves us every day.
in a world where nations whether great or small
Play with truth and freedom to the harm of all,
Let us all be honest, steadfast, brace, and true,
Ever seeking justice though we may be few.
Let us raise our voices in a song of praise unto God who hears
and loves us every day.
When God Made Mothers Dear
By Alden Hebard, submitted by Arthur Neis, Written April 2025
When God made mothers dear, God did enrich our sphere.
Their loving kindness we recall, in every passing year.
When God brought mothers forth, with all their nurturing worth,
God did provide continuing life, up on this planet earth.
Their constant toil and love, reflects that from above.
In times not always good to us, their care they won't remove.
Though motherhood with change, and families rearrange,
We still will need our mother's care, their tending to arrange.
With thanks to mothers know, especially our own,
To thee we sing our grateful praise, O God of life and home.
Every time we worship help us all to find
God's eternal presence in the human mind.
Calling us to faithfulness come whatever may
Artificially produced or felt as real as day.
Let us raise our voices in a song of praise unto God who hears
and loves us every day.

These hymns were written by Alden Hebard, and submitted by
Arthur Neis along with a couple notes about each.
Alden entrusted Arthur with his entire file, including one he had
wrote just before being declared essentially blind: “Let Us Raise
Our Voices”. He described it as needed therapy.
Alden’s hymn“When God Made Mothers Dear” was again this
year as part of worship for Mother's Day Plymouth. Alden once
told me that in his ministry he could never find an appropriate
Mothers’ Day hymn, so he wrote one!
